 “Hot Topics: The State of Art Education”


Bio: Dr. Cindy Todd is the Art Education Program Chair at Kendall College of Art & Design of FSU and is Vice President for the National Art Education Association’s Western Region.  Before becoming a professor, Cindy taught K-12 art for over 14 years, teaching at all levels, elementary, middle and high school. Cindy, a former Michigan Art Education Association President, was the recipient of MAEA’s Teacher of the Year award, Higher Education Teacher of the Year, the NAEA’s Student Chapter Sponsor Award of Excellence, and Rochester Public School’s Secondary Teacher of the Year. She has presented keynote addresses at Art Education Associations and other conferences across the country. She is currently a co-creator of the Grand Rapids Public Museum School whose curriculum is largely based on design thinking. The school was a proud winner of the 10 million dollar XQ grant!
